✓
Referral rules for the care you already receive
Three steps

How to stay with Chaparral

01
Find your doctor

Look up the Chaparral physician you see today, or find a new one near you.

02
Check the plan list

Confirm your plan — and the medical group or IPA attached to it — appears on our accepted list.

03
Confirm with the office

Call your physician’s office before you enroll. Plan networks can change year to year.

Common questions

Open enrollment FAQ

It is the yearly period when you can join a health plan, switch plans, or drop coverage. Outside that window you usually need a qualifying life event to make a change.

Most plans renew automatically, but costs, drug lists, and provider networks can change. Read the annual notice your plan mails you each fall and confirm your doctor is still in network.

Check two things: that the plan is on our accepted list, and that the medical group or IPA the plan assigns you to includes Chaparral. If you are unsure, call your physician’s office before you enroll.

If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can make one change between January 1 and March 31. Covered California enrollment runs through January 31. Outside those windows, a qualifying life event may open a special enrollment period.

Our staff can tell you whether we accept a plan, but we cannot recommend one or enroll you. For help comparing plans, contact your health plan, your broker, Medicare at 1 (800) 633-4227, or Covered California at 1 (800) 300-1506.
